In 2025, we will rehabilitate northbound I-5 on the Ship Canal Bridge from SR 520 to Northeast 45th Street.
You can expect:
- Three full weekend closures of northbound I-5 from SR 520 to Northeast 45th Street.
- Weekend closures are needed to set the double-lane work zone in spring, shift it in summer, and remove it in the fall.
- Northbound I-5 will be reduced to two lanes between SR 520 to Northeast 45th Street (including the Ship Canal Bridge) for nine months.
- The double-lane work zone will be set in the two inside lanes of northbound I-5 and then shift to the two outside lanes during the nine-month period.
- The I-5 Express Lanes will typically be open for northbound traffic during construction.
- Speed limit will be reduced to 50 mph in the work zone.
- The following ramps will be fully closed for approximately 25 days each:
- SR 520 on-ramp to northbound I-5.
- Harvard on-ramp to northbound I-5.
- These ramps will not be closed at the same time for construction.
