Welcome to our online open house!
This project will repave two roadway segments with hot mix asphalt. Improvement options from this pre-design may become part of this paving project. Complete Streets looks at ways to create safe roads for everyone who uses them.
WSDOT will repave two segments on US 101.
- Segment one is near Port Angeles from East Kolonels Way to Shore Road.
- Segment two spans Carlsborg and Sequim from Kitchen-Dick Road to Simdars Road.
The pre-design will conduct a Complete Streets analysis. In Complete Streets, we look for roadway improvements that will better serve those who walk, bike, or use public transit. Recommendations made during this review may become part of this paving project.
A safety analysis was conducted to help identify the locations for these enhancements.
From 2013 to 2022, there were 13 bicycle and pedestrian crashes recorded in the pre-design area. Nine out of 13 crashes involved bicyclist and pedestrians crossing the highway. Three crashes involving pedestrians were fatal. Four other crashes resulted in serious injuries.
Under 23 U.S. Code § 148 and 23 U.S. Code § 407, safety data, reports, surveys, schedules, lists compiled or collected for the purpose of identifying, evaluating, or planning the safety enhancement of potential crash sites, hazardous roadway conditions, or railway-highway crossings are not subject to discovery or admitted into evidence in a Federal or State court proceeding or considered for other purposes in any action for damages arising from any occurrence at a location mentioned or addressed in such reports, surveys, schedules, lists, or data.
