SR 510/Yelm Loop – New alignment phase 2 online open house – Environmental studies

WSDOT is conducting a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA) to identify and analyze the environmental effects of the SR 510/Yelm Loop Phase 2 project.

  • Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA): WSDOT is in the process of an environmental assessment phase that will continue into mid-2020. The in-depth process will involve a supplement to the Environmental Assessment completed for this project in 2000. Efforts will produce a detailed environmental document called a Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA). The SEA will address many disciplines, including those listed to the right.
  • Endangered Species Act: The habitat of the Mazama Pocket Gopher, a threatened species, is within the proposed project limits. The SEA will identify potential impacts to Mazama Pocket Gophers and include a plan to mitigate these impacts. WSDOT is actively searching for parcels (up to 50 acres) for use as a mitigation site. Interested parties are encouraged to contact WSDOT Olympic Region Real Estate Services at 360-357-2697.
