WSDOT is working to understand and improve pedestrian and bicycle access and mobility along SR 900 in the Skyway-West Hill area of unincorporated King County.
This project will design a shared-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists on westbound SR 900, enhancing intersections, and upgrading access to transit along SR 900 between 57th Avenue South and South 135th Street. The goal is to create a safer, more accessible corridor for all users, including people walking, biking, using transit and driving.
This project has three phases, Phase A, Phase B and Phase C. We have identified a set of improvements for Phase A, including:
- A shared walking and biking path separated from the vehicle lane with lighting on the westbound side of the road.
- Better bike and pedestrian access at South 129th Street.
- A new traffic signal at South 133rd Street, along with pedestrian improvements.
- New bus stop near the Creston Point Apartments on westbound SR 900.
- A new protected crosswalk near Creston Point Apartments to help people reach the new westbound bus stop.
These Phase A improvements are funded for design and the purchase of right-of-way, but construction funding has not yet been identified.

Improvements that are part of a future Phase B and Phase C are being considered now to ensure they work well together when fully built. Phase B improvements include options, such as constructing roundabouts at South 129th and South 135th Streets. Phase C improvements include a wide sidewalk separated from the vehicle lane with lighting on the eastbound side of the road. Right now, Phase B and Phase C improvements are only funded for planning, not design or construction.
