SR 507 Active Transportation and Community Engagement Survey
On this page: Share your experience | Project overview
Centralia is growing, and the way people travel through the community is changing. More homes, jobs and development are expected in the coming years, bringing more people and goods to State Route 507.
This planning study will look at how people travel through the area, identify gaps and determine what improvements may be needed. The goal is to identify ways to provide safe, reliable connections for people who drive, walk, bike, roll or use transit.
The study will consider:
- Traffic flow and congestion along SR 507
- Gaps in walking and biking connections
- Access to transit and other transportation options
- Future transportation needs as the area grows
Share your experience
You know your community and how you travel through it. Your feedback will help us better understand what works well, where the challenges are and what could be improved.
This survey will take 15 minutes to complete. You can read each section by scrolling or using the menu.
What is the purpose of this survey?
This is the first of two opportunities to help shape the study:
- Tell us what you need. This first online engagement opportunity provides an overview of the study and gathers helpful input.
- See how your feedback shaped the study. The second online opportunity will share what we heard from the community, how the feedback was used and the recommended improvements. There will be another opportunity to provide input on the recommendations before the study is complete.
Your feedback, along with information gathered through the study, will help develop potential improvements for SR 507.
What happens with my feedback?
Your response will help WSDOT understand community needs and priorities and guide the potential improvements considered through this study. Survey feedback will be summarized and posted on the study webpage.
How do I stay involved or learn more?
Stay connected as the study moves forward:
- Read the community survey summary.
- Participate in the next engagement opportunity and share your thoughts on potential improvements.
- Learn about Level of Traffic Stress (PDF 64KB) and how WSDOT considers walking, biking and rolling conditions.
- Learn about the City of Centralia's transportation plans, including Hub City Greenways and the Main Street Corridor Revitalization Plan.
Project overview

The map on the right shows areas where potential improvements for walking, biking and rolling are being considered. This study and survey will focus on the section highlighted in orange. WSDOT is studying potential transportation improvements along SR 507 between the I-5 interchange near the Skookumchuck River and Centralia.
When will these changes happen?
This study is an early step in planning for the future of SR 507. Community feedback will help identify and prioritize potential improvements along the corridor. The study does not fund or build these improvements. Instead, the findings will help WSDOT and the City of Centralia plan future projects and pursue funding as opportunities become available.

What is active transportation?
Active transportation includes walking, biking, rolling and using mobility devices to get where you need to go. Safe and connected sidewalks, improved crossings and dedicated bicycle routes can make it easier for people of all ages and abilities to travel through their communities.
WSDOT's Active Transportation Plan helps guide how these needs are considered when planning transportation improvements.
