What will we have when we are done?

The Highway System Plan is a financially constrained plan. Unlike previous plans, for this update, a list of highway system projects will not be developed. Instead, the plan will identify program funding levels and tradeoffs between investment scenarios.

The final plan will document all public input, evaluation criteria, analysis and decisions made throughout the process, and will meet our responsibility to protect and leverage past taxpayer investment before investing in multimodal system expansion, consistent with RCW 47.06.050. After the plan is completed, it will serve as the basis for the six-year highway program and the two-year biennial budget request to the Legislature, and WSDOT will collaborate with Regional Transportation Planning Organizations on selecting specific investments.
